Does my insurance cover chiropractic care?

How do I know if I need to see a chiropractor?

Pain is an awful thing. So many times pain gets in the way of doing the things we enjoy, or even the things we must do to get through the day. But more importantly, pain robs us of our most valuable commodity-our precious free time. Pain is a warning sign that something is wrong. Many people simply ignore pain, thinking that the problem will eventually just go away. Like so many other things in life, problems don't usually resolve without taking action. Instead, our problems typically get worse over time, especially when ignored.

As a chiropractic physician, my job is to determine the root cause of your problems, and to design a treatment program that uniquely addresses those problems. The only way that I can properly evaluate your concern is by doing an exam, and asking you the appropriate clinical questions about your problem. Each one of us is a unique and complex individual, and pain affects each one of us in a different way. As your doctor, my duty is to gather as much information about you as possible, so that I can address your individual needs. Once I have the appropriate clinical information, I will tell you if I feel that chiropractic care would benefit you. If I feel that yours is not a chiropractic case, I will tell you that too. Together we will discuss the best course of action in order for you get the critical care that you deserve.

Whether you have good insurance, bad insurance, or no insurance, I will work with you to help you get the care that you need and deserve. Please bring your insurance card and driver's license with you on your first visit, so that my office staff can call your insurance company to verify coverage.

What is a subluxation?

A subluxation is a misalignment of the spine.

subluxation

These misalignments occur due to spinal trauma, auto accidents, slips, falls, sports injuries, and chronic poor posture. Subluxations affect your nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). When your spine is in proper alignment, information travels from your brain to the body and back again without disruption. When you have subluxation and your spine is NOT in proper alignment, information cannot travel effectively from the brain to the rest of your body. As a result, pain, numbness, tingling, headaches, tension, stiffness, and degeneration (arthritis) can occur.

Does chiropractic hurt?

Chiropractic treatments and therapy do not usually hurt. Sometimes, there may be occasional discomfort. This usually comes from the muscles of the body trying to fight the proper alignment of the bones. Your muscles have been used to that poor position for a long time and/or are trying to protect the body and do not like change.

I heard that once you go to a chiropractor, you have to keep going back. Is this true?

How often you see any doctor is up to you. Many patients often see the benefits of chiropractic care and enjoy the adjustments and chiropractic physiotherapies. That is why patients keep coming back over their lifetime.

Why do newborns and children get adjusted?

Childbirth can be one of the most traumatic events to a person. Also, think of the normal growth and development of a child. They are born and have to build their muscles to hold up their head. They then slowly learn to crawl, walk, run, ride a bike, and do many other activities that include falling repeatedly in order to learn. Newborns and children respond great to adjustment, even better than adults. This is usually because they do not have the years of built up stress and poor posture that adults have to work through to get muscles and ligaments to change. A treatment plan for children usually only involves a few visits and then an occasional check up to endure that any of the tumbles they have taken in between visits have not caused any problems.
