Your first visit will consist of filling out paperwork, which will take 15 minutes or can be done by downloading the forms from our website. The doctor will review your paperwork and then begin with a history. The history will include questions about the problem that you are presenting with and also some basic family and personal health history questions. An examination will be done on the areas that you are currently experiencing discomfort with. The exam will include range of motion, orthopedic tests, and palpation of the muscles and bones of the spine. Then, x-rays may or may not be taken depending on the findings from the history and examination.
If x-rays are taken, you will be asked to reschedule for later in the day or the next day. This will give the doctor time to review your examination, history and x-rays.
Part two of your visit will include a report of findings and treatment. The report of findings will help you understand what was found during the examination and x-rays. The doctor will then give you options for care, this is called a treatment plan. After all of this, an adjustment will be done to help correct the spinal misalignments that were found during your examination and x-rays. Usually on the first few visits, patients are in pain. Therefore, the chiropractic physiotherapy that is recommended is ice and electric muscle stimulation. This will feel like a mini-massage for the areas of discomfort. Once chiropractic physiotherapy is concluded, the patient will be given any at home instructions and will be scheduled for their next visit.
At following visits, the patients will be asked to check in with the front desk and pay their fees for service. They will then be taken back to the adjustment room. The visit will include a quick assessment of the spine and muscles. Then there will be an adjustment and chiropractic physiotherapy. Chiropractic physiotherapies will be changed during the course of treatment as needed.
After the treatment plan is completed, the doctor will do a re-exam to check on your progress and will discuss future plans for treatment.
